Increased HSA Contribution Limits
The IRS announced earlier this year that the contribution limits for HSAs would increase in 2010 due to the increases in cost of living. The maximum contribution for an employee with single coverage that can be made to an HSA is $3,050, which is a $50 increase from 2009. For those with family coverage, the maximum will increase from $5,950 to $6,150. Out-of-pocket expenses will rise to $5,950 for single coverage and $11,900 for family high-deductible health plans. The new limits are effective for the calendar year of 2010.
