Tis the Season
An annual flu shot is a simple solution to seasonal illness, lost wages, and a variety of health complications. In spite of this, many employees never visit a doctor, retail clinic, or work site event to receive a vaccination. Skipping this ounce of prevention can also lead to higher employer cost for lost productivity, or health plan utilization.
To help promote immunizations this year, OptumHealth has launched the OptumHealth Flu Shot Card - a simple, convenient solution to prevent to seasonal flu. Since employees will not be responsible for any out of pocket costs, combined with the gift-like aspect of receiving a card, employees will feel additional incentive to obtain a vaccination.
The program is simple. OptumHealth mails individual cards to employees. Each card can be redeemed for one flu shot at one of more than 17,000 pharmacies nationwide. Employers only pay for redeemed cards – no prepayment, or minimum charges, and available to any size employer group. There is also a nifty portal for employers to track utilization, and employees to look up participating retail outlets.
